June 2002

Summer has arrived and we are basking in the blessings and the beauty of each day.  Each morning, with  a cup of coffee, we look around to  see again the handiwork of God.  Our thoughts always go the realization that Heaven will be far more beautiful that even this.  Unimaginable!

Then of course, there is work to do.  The realization comes to mind that when we get to Heaven, we are not going to just sit around admiring the beauty, but we are going to serve Him.  There is going to be work to do there too.  Most assuredly its going to be enjoyable.

That's what we have found about our "retirement ministry".  It is totally enjoyable. Our original goal was to have the home page of our website on the internet in late May or June.  Our Lord miraculously provided our webmaster and on April 25th, that goal was accomplished.  Since then everything else has been added and the progress continues daily.   We are still gathering sermons, typing outlines, writing and editing  articles and so forth to prepare for the web site. One e-book that we are getting together is typed and now being edited.

As a pastor, one of the church ministries was a tape ministry.  Most of the sermons preached from the pulpits were taped, then used for various services.  One was a lending library and another was for shut-ins and those unable to attend services.  However, God used that ministry to provide a wealth of material to be used now on the website.  It has been a remarkable experience going back over the tapes and listening to the messages preached thirty years ago and more.  Makes us realize that though methods and cultures may change, the message of the Word of God never changes.

One desire and burden to reach out to the Cherokee ministry is not being fulfilled as quickly as we desire. Circumstances appear to prevent us from making the trip out west in the next few weeks as planned, but we are  now working to establish as many contacts as possible, and to enlarge our knowledge about the Cherokee people as we endeavor to minister to them.  This will insure a more fruitful use of time and effort when we do go west.
